The history of Filp dates back to the late 19th century, exactly 1888, when the company started bringing together and synergizing several local enterprises to transition from a purely artisanal to a more industrial production model, particularly in the manufacturing of engineering files. At that time, the file was considered the queen of any workshop, and its production represented a very significant market.
Everything was set for substantial growth, which occurred steadily. In 1924, Stella Bianca brand was born—meant to represent the highest quality—along with several secondary brands. Stella Bianca quickly established itself as an industry leader.
In 1929 with the acquisition of FILUT (Lime Martina and others), Filp moved to Rivoli (Cascine Vica). On the eve of World War II, Filp had become the leading manufacturer of engineering files, employing nearly 800 people. In 1985 the ownership started the modernization and reorganization effort, which culminated in the relocation to Leinì, in Turin area, and the sale of the huge Cascine Vica facilities, which were progressively converted into residential areas. To this day, the residential neighborhood still known as Stellabianca bears our brand on its building entrances! The “new” Filp, having streamlined its operations and workforce, was once again ready to surge forward. The company’s vision proved to be both timely and aligned with market trends. Besides files, many other products were introduced—especially accessories for emerging power tools—entering the newborn hole saw sector, in which Stella Bianca remains a leader to this day.
In 2002, Filp was honored with the “Centenary Company” award by API.
Today, strengthened by the Industry 4.0 certification, we have completed the renewal of all procedures, optimizing and digitizing every production and logistics process.
